National RBH-2 WW II Navy CW/AM Receiver
The National RBH-2 is a WW II era naval receiver that was usually found in the officer's wardroom
aboard United States naval vessels. The unit that I own was found in someone's attic and while it
obviously needs some serious cosmetic restoration, the interior is in very nice shape, and the receiver
does work !!
The RBH-2 is an example of what is called a "catacomb" receiver design. In the following two photos,
note the catacomb (or tray) at different positions within the underside of the receiver chassis.
As the radio operator moved the band switch control, the catacomb moved across the chassis to make
the required connections.
A complete paint job is in this radio's future!
